That is a plus. This casino is in Ontario, which means comped alcoholic drinks aren't legally permitted. However, they then charge over $5 for a beer, the same beer which a bar down the street advertises for $2. And the service to get that $5 is lacking. Since it is Canada, they use Canadian currency. The same machines that will cash your slot tickets will exchange US currency into Canadian currency. They also have one machine upstairs that will cash your ticket into US currency. However, while not bad, aren't the best. So if you exchange $100 US, play with the Canadian currency and come out exactly even, and then exchange it back into US money, you will be out a couple of dollars. They also exchange cash at the cage. They use the same Total Rewards system that other CET casinos use. The slots are the same. And the tables don't seem to be okay. There is a toll to get here from Detroit in addition to another toll to get back to Detroit. Not sure if it is worth the cost. ]]> Mon, 08 Jul 2013 22:19:38 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: April 2013 Casino Windsor]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2506349 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2506349 If you don't mind paying the $4 one way toll, then Casino Windsor may be a better choice than the Detroit 3. Better VP pay schedules, although less machines than MGM Detroit's LARGE selection. I've eaten at the buffet, typical choices, delicious, not super fancy. The dessert bar is large & very good. Starting April, 2013 you can now use TR points for "free play" on machines & tables. Big shooters can probably get their toll money reimbursed for the bridge or tunnel crossing. It's not fancy and they were pretty crowded when we played there but the staff was friendly and the place was clean. We didn't eat but I did play poker and their poker room was nice. Not particularly fancy but good sized, good lighting, and the dealers and other guests were quite friendly. The cashier converted U.S. dollars to Canadian when handing out chips and converted back when we cashed out which was very nice. I'd suggest that if you're in the Detroit area, go to MGM Grand but if you need a second choice, drive over or under the river and try Windsor Casino. ]]> Wed, 07 Dec 2011 23:38:28 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: Awesome Place in Canada]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504671 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504671 Good selection of slots, video poker, table games, this place is very nice. I like visiting here more than any of the Detroit casinos on my side of the water. The buffet here is very good, and the hotel is VERY nice. Do yourself a favor and book a room with a view of the river. They now have a sportsbook as well, so it gives it that "Vegas feel but not in Vegas" thing going on. I give this place 5 stars overall. -Dale ]]> Thu, 27 Oct 2011 03:46:18 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: Worth the border crossing]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504629 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504629 This casino is one of the nicer ones in the Detroit Market. One of the unique things about this property is that it is smoke-free. The buffet is very nice and recently remodeled. The hotel has great views, an indoor pool, and a spa. It's on the total rewards system, but comps seem to have gotten super tight. ]]> Tue, 25 Oct 2011 20:10:04 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: Crowded, Noisy, "tight" machines]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504372 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504372 Have to admit that I've stopped going to this property for the following reasons: comps/FreePlay have seriously evaporated since this has become part of the Ceasars/Harrah's empire, tired of the long waits at border crossings (bridge and tunnel), unfavorable exchange rate (and conversion costs), fewer machines, poor lighting, crowds, noise, and lack of play for my gambling dollar (insert the phrase "vacuum wallet"). On the plus side, staff has been very friendly, the entire gaming floor is non-smoking, Buffet has great selection (although a little pricey) and beverage service was quite satisfactory. Word of advice: avoid this property if you detest crowds, especially crowded on weekends and when there's live entertainment in their new stage-a-torium. But they are bringing in bigger-name acts!! Have always enjoyed overnight stays in hotel, but serious lack of food overnight/early morning. ]]> Wed, 31 Aug 2011 08:49:04 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: Clean Safe and Fun!]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504182 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504182 Nice place to visit if you like Vegas. Non-smoking and very clean. Hotel is clean with very nice spacious rooms. Breakfast time is very busy and slow service. The buffet has improved over the past few years. ]]> Sun, 26 Jun 2011 20:24:18 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: closest thing to Vegas]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504029 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2504029 The hotel is great. It has been recently remodeled and updated. very spacious rooms, excellent customer service. they have one of the largest casinos in the area with two full floors of gaming space. I have been going to this casino for the past five years since it became a total rewards casino to keep my points active. the slots seem to be a little tight compared to others but is well worth the trip. the comps are very good for slots club players which help offset the hassles at the border and the ever changing currency exchange. the food is pricey but is good with plenty of seating. short waits at the buffet. Only real downfall is the lack of choices for breakfast on site. ]]> Mon, 25 Apr 2011 03:16:11 +0000 <![CDATA[Caesars Windsor: Nicest in the area]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2503625 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/michigan/caesars-windsor.html/discussions/2503625 Caesar Windsor is by far the nicest casino in the Detroit area. The casino is big and feels very spacious and open. They always have a lot of entertainment and promotions going. It's nice that it's a Harrah's property now for those who go to Vegas. Parking garage is well lit and good spaces are usually open. Hotel is very nice and affordable with those who have some comps. Base rate is pretty high for those without comps. Buffet is pretty decent, but the price is high. Sports bar is also pretty nice, but also on the high side. Table minimums aren't bad. Casino is smoke free which is nice for people who don't smoke. Casino almost feels that busy unless a big concert is going on. The biggest problem Caesars has here is that people without a passport can't get to it. Even for people like me who have a passport it's sometimes not worth the hassle. I hate to say it but the fact is US customs people are something of the biggest A**holes around and make it not worth the hassle of going over and going back. It also cost something like $4 each way over the bridge which is a ripoff too. ]]> Thu, 28 Oct 2010 20:04:20 +0000
